“Chris get up, something is wrong, hurry up Chris” The boy woke up dazed and looked at the other boy shaking him.

“What’s wrong Tim!?” Jolting up realizing who it was, yet not realizing how close Tim was. Which resulted in him slamming his forehead against his nose.

“Oh no.  . . . ,” He stared at Chris as he clutched his bleeding nose. He backed away and ran out of the room. Chris looked after, wondering what was wrong with Tim. He touched his forehead and flinched at the touch.

“Great, I even get hurt in a hospital, how ironic.” He threw his legs over the bed and gently put his weight on his left foot, testing to see if it would hold his weight. It didn’t. “Crap!” The pain was too much and he leaned on the stand that was screwed into the wall. That didn’t help at all, it snapped in half, sending him flying to the floor. SLAM!

He tensed up as the pain went throughout his whole body. He waited, panting on the floor, for some nurse or doctor to come. Time passed by, but nobody came. “This hospital is so freaking screwed up,”

Chris crawled over to his crutches, despite the pain coming from his foot. Putting all his strength into his arms, he pulled himself up with the help of the crutches. At least he had normal clothes on, instead of that ugly hospital robe on.

If they don’t come to me, I’ll come to them then, he thought as he walked out the door.

That’s when he noticed that the lights were out, yet he hadn’t realized cause of the window in his room. Yet out in the halls, there were patches of darkness between each door. The hospital appeared to be deserted. He knew that couldn’t be right, Tim should be around, he was the one to wake him up.

“This hospital is really screwed up,” The sound of his own voice made him jump, as it echoed  through the halls. He breathed in and then breathed out with the conclusion that it’s best to get to the bottom of this. The sound coming from the clutches hitting the floor echoed through the hall.

Looking around, he found the hospital in total ruins. Hospital beds were over turned, bed sheets were ripped apart, medicine was everywhere. He noticed something red on a piece of glass and got a better look at it, that’s when he realized it was blood. Tensing up, his hand clutched the glass, making it shatter.

“Great, now a bleeding finger,” He looked at his finger as the fresh blood spilled out of a cut. He felt his heart beat faster at the sight of it, but it quickly past.

I had never fainted at the sight of blood, he through, wondering why his heart did that. He put it into his mouth as he looked around for a medical kit. “No kit, last time I ever come to this hospital.”

He stopped when he heard something, his breathing stopped as tried to hear where it came from. That’s when he heard a methodic sound of scraping metal that seem to emanate from around the corner.

He breathed out slowly, so I’m not the only one here, he thought. He panicked  when he realized that the approaching person must have something huge to make the sound of scraping metal.

Chris looked around trying to find a hiding spot, he looked up as the sound of scraping metal stopped. He tensed up at the sight of the shadow of the person. He quickly ducked under a hospital bed, right as he saw a hand appear and grab the corner of the wall.

For a second I thought I saw claws on those hands, but that couldn’t be right. He threw a bed sheet over himself and laid down, trying to make himself blend with his surroundings.

He heard the figure coming closer, along with the scraping of metal. Just what I need, to run into a psycho killer, he thought as the person came closer. The figure stopped close to Chris, he held his breath.

Please don’t notice me, please don’t notice me, he kept thinking shutting his eyes and curling into a ball.

Then he heard the sound that made him relaxes, the sound of someone walking away. Chris looked out from under the bed sheet, which was the stupidest thing he had ever done. His jaw dropped at what he saw standing before him.

A man that was so tall that he could reach the ceiling if he stretched out, yet that wasn’t what amazed him. It was the fact that he had the shape of a beast, but standing on his hind legs. He was holding a crude looking metal bar that was smeared in blood.

The man-beast stopped and sniffed the air. Chris quickly ducked under the hospital bed again and stuck his finger back into his mouth, realizing that was what he was sniffing.

The man-beast turned and slowly walked back, but there was no sound of the metal scrapping. Chris started to shake realizing that he was now spotted and probably be ripped apart.

Should I try my luck and see if I can out run him, he thought, as the man-beast stopped in front of the bed.

“Found you,” The bed was lifted and put aside before Chris could do anything. He froze as he made eye contact with the man-beast, his finger falling from his mouth.

Holy shit, I’m going to die, he thought as his heart pounded against his chest. He should have run when the man-beast hand reached for him, yet he calmed down. Before the man-beast hand touched him, he bit him. He had no idea why he just bit someone that was about to kill him. It was like instinct.

The man-beast stared at him, taken back from being bitten. Chris snared at him and looked at him with full hatred. He had no idea why, it was like his blood was boiling and he needed to take out his anger on something. He bit down harder, until he tasted blood in his mouth

“Nice bite you got there,” The man-beast started to laugh and right before Chris eyes, he started to transform. In a matter of seconds, he went from being a man-beast  into just a man. Chris hold on him lighten, taken back at the sudden transformation. With the loosened bite, the man flicked Chris forehead, making him yell out from the pain.

The pain brought Chris back to his senses and he looked up at the man that was licking his wounded hand. His shirt was ripped in a couple of places, yet Chris just wondered how he had clothes on, when he was completely naked when he was a beast

Keeping an eye on the man, he got up slowly supporting himself with the wall, yet he forgot about his foot. The pains that shoot through his body made him lose his grip on the wall. He was going down just like before. He looked away from the man and down at the floor that was speeding closer.

“Whoa, you should be more careful, that bite mark you got hasn’t completely healed,” The man said, as he grabbed the back of Chris shirt.

“How do you know about that?”

       “About what?”

“That I got bitten on the foot!”

“Oh, that’s easy, it’s cause I was the one to bite you.” He smiled as he put Chris down and went over to pick up the crutches. “It should heal quickly as soon as we get some fresh blood in you.” Chris stared at the man before him. He was the one to bite me, he thought, but the one to bite me was a dog.

       “. . .What . . .  are you?”

“Now that’s an odd question, shouldn’t it be, who are you?” Chris just continued to stare at him as he came back holding the crutches.

“Fine, what AND who are you?” Chris smirked, as the man stopped for a second to think. He sat down next to Chris and placed the crutches in front of him.

“Hmm, not much time to talk so I’ll make it short, I’m Charles and I’m a werewolf.” Chris  looked at Charles as if he was insane. “You seen me in my true form and yet you still don’t believe me.” Chris eyes widen when he realized that the man before him wasn’t lying.

“Holy sh-” Charles put a finger to his mouth before he can finish. He looked up and saw that Charles was staring at the corner from which he came from. Chris looked around him to see what it was too. He was confused for a second, but then a smile spread through his face.

“Tim!” He moved out from under Charles finger and grabbed the crutches. Tim looked toward them having been staring at the ceiling, he smiled at first but then his face went emotionless. He glared at Chris, his bright blue eyes turning a crimson color.

“Chris, how could you . . . ” Chris froze, this was the first time that Tim had ever glared at him like that.

“Tim.  . . . what’s wrong?” He took a step toward him, but Tim just took a stop back.

“Why did you have to Chris, I thought you were my friend,” Tim face was torn between hatred and sadness. Tim looked down and started to shake, Chris took another step forward, but stop when he saw the puddle at his feet. Tim was crying, it was the first time that Chris ever saw him cry.

“Damn, we need to get out of here,” Chris felt himself be lifted, he looked behind him and saw that Charles was back in his wolf form. “I don’t know what you did to him, but making a vampire cry is the biggest mistake one can make.”

“Va- vampire!?” Chris yelled, as he was tuck under one of Charles arms. He grabbed the bloody metal bar with his free hand, and he raced in the opposite direction of Tim.

“Yeah a vampire, from the sounds of it you know him, did you ever make any blood contact with him?” He rounded the corner and Chris caught one last glance at Tim. He was glowing a deep red and the objects around him were floating, he was still crying too.

“No, he never let me come near him if he ever cut himself.” Coming back from the shock of what he just saw. He looked at the passing doors, they were differently going at a pace that no human can go at.

“Good, that means there’s no blood-bond.” They rounded another corner and Chris cried out in surprise. There was blood smeared across the hallway wall, forming twisted hand prints at the beginnings and ends of the smears.

“Put me down, I don’t feel so well,” Chris heart started to pound faster, it was the same as when he cut his finger. Yet this time, he felt like attacking something, his blood was boiling up again.

“Guess this wasn’t a good idea to come this way, your changing faster then I thought” Charles put him down, looking around to where they can run off too.

“ Charles . . . who made these smears and what do you mean changing?” Chris looked up at him as he froze. He turned to him, but there was a sad smile on his face.

“Let’s just say, that sometimes friends can turn out to be different then expected.” Charles swirled around, Chris looked behind them too. It was Tim, but at the same times, it wasn’t. “As for the changing part, you should know what happens to a human that is bitten by a werewolf.”

“You me-” He was cut off, as Charles lifted him up and threw him over his shoulder.

“Let’s talk later,” They ran off again, Chris looked back at Tim. His skin was pealing and a dark gray can be seen under it. His eyes were completely red and he was still crying, but this time it was blood coming out of his eyes, not tears.

       “Tim. . .”

“Chris.  . . . ” He said something, but Chris couldn’t catch what it was. Then he went out of sight, as they rounded another corner.

       “He really pissed now.”

       “You heard what he said?”

“Yeah, let’s just say that it’s best not to get in his way.”

       “What did he say!?”

Charles burst through some double doors, which lead to the cafeteria. All of the sudden, he halted making Chris fly off, but Charles caught him.

“I said, I’m going to kill you, my dear friend,” Chris heart beat faster. He turned and saw his friend, or what was left of his former friend. Before them stood what seemed to be a giant bat, yet still in the shape of a human.

“Tim, h-how can you say that, I’m your friend,” Chris stuttered as he took a step towards him, trying to smile. Yet he fell to his knees, clutching the area of his chest where his heart was. It was beating faster and it hurt so much that he wanted to cry out in pain.

“Wrong, you use to be my friend,” He grinned, showing his razor sharp teeth. Chris felt tears go down his face, if his heart wasn’t already in pain enough, he felt like it was just stabbed.

“Your one stupid bat-boy you know.” Charles started to laugh. Chris looked up, he couldn’t see him that much, everything was blurred.

       “What you say?”

“You know how it is, never make a vampire cry, which goes the same for a werewolf.” Chris reached out his hand, when he realized that Charles was stepping away from him. “But what you don’t know is, never break a friendship with a werewolf!”

“He’s not a full werewolf, so I’ll kill him before he changes!” Tim voice was in a panic. Chris cried out in pain, slamming his head done on the tile floor and cracking it. He was in so much pain, he wanted to make something or someone in pain too.

“Wrong,” He lifted his hand, “The second he bit me and drew blood, he became a full fledge werewolf.” Charles started to laugh insanely.

“So then if I kill you, he will die too.”

“Sorry to disappoint you, but the fight is between you and my new apprentice here.” With that Charles turned around and walked out of the cafeteria. “Have fun Chris.”

Chris stared after him, his mind in a complete craze. He smiled, he knew what was happing, any second now he was going to snap.

“Come back here, I’m not finish talking to you.” Tim started to run after him, but Chris caught one of his legs. “Let go of me you filthy mutt, get it through that skull of yours, I never have and never will be friends with a werewolf.”

“So. . .were not friends. . .anymore,” Chris let go of his foot and got up slowly, he looked at Tim with blank eyes.

“So you finally realized that,” He sneered, crossing his arms, “Took you long enough.” Chris stared at him, knowing he was going to black out any second.

“In my mind, you will always be my friend,” He smiled, he clutched his heart which skipped a beat. He took one final look at Tim, “Goodbye, my friend.” He black out.

       ********

By the time Chris walked out through the front doors of the hospital, it was already night time. The hospital was surrounded, ranging from civilians to swat teams. Becoming one with the darkness, he quickly pass them all. He sat down in an alley, waiting for Charles to come.

“Had fun?” Charles appeared next to him, Chris didn’t jump, he had sense him coming.

“Lots,” He licked his bloody hand, “Still hungry though.”

“Let’s get you a snack then.”

Chris wolf ears twitched. He got up and followed his new master into the darkness, yet before he was swallowed by the darkness he looked back at the hospital

“Nothing is ever what it seems.” He whispered as he waved goodbye to the figure standing at one of the hospital window.
