"I want to die." Kathy told John.
"Why would you want that, Grandma? They're having meatloaf today!" The intern informed her, "You could at least wait until after lunch."
The old woman smiled, closing her eyes. "You're a good boy, Johnny."
"Thanks, Kathy." John waved at her and then stepped out of the room into the hallway.
The hospital appeared to be deserted. Of course, that wasn't unusual. Ever since people had found out about the murders taken place there, they'd been going to the next town. The same went for most of the doctors, too. But John didn't mind! For one, his pay had almost trippled since everyone started leaving!
John suddenly stopped walking. A methodic sound of scraping metal seemed to eminate from around the corner. What on earth?...
He carefully made his way to the turn and leaned against the wall. He was a coward by nature, that was one thing that the college-student would admit. But he needed to get down the hall, and the corner was required, so he slowly peered around the edge to see... Jessica's ass.
Jessica Hermish was another one of the people who had stayed at the hospital, and she was currently bending down trying to pull up and overturned metal cart, her back facing John. Sweet.
"Hey, Jessica need any help with that!" John offered.
She turned around, "Oh? Um, sure..."
He made his way over to her, kneeling down and together they put the cart right-side-up again. "Man! These things are heavy, how on earth did you manage to knock it over?"
"Well it wasn't easy!" Jessica laughed, standing up and brushing some dust off of her skirt, "But I can do amazing things!"
John laughed with her. Oh I bet you can...
"What were you doing back in that deparment, John?" Jessica asked.
"Huh? Oh, just visiting Kathy. She's seemed kinda down lately."
"She turned one hundred last week, right?"
"Yeah, says she's ready to die now."
"Oh really..." Jessica's cheerful green eyes darkened for a moment, "That's to bad, she is your grandmother after all... Well, I'll see you later, John!"
"Later." He watched as she went around the corner going along the path he had tread only moments before. As soon as she was out of sight he banged his head against the wall. "John you freaking idiot! Way to go, that was just GREAT as if you couldn't have made a bigger fool of yourself..." He grumbled.
"Oh John Sunny Johnson!" Came a voice about as welcome as snow in August.
"Hey Dr. Myter..." John jumped up to face Dr. Stephen Myter, his boss.
"I must say, John Sunny Johnson you're social skills are coming along very nicely!" He grinned, tipping down his glasses.
"Oh?... Thanks." John blushed. Damn he hated that man.
"Mm, you're most welcome! Don't forget to see the rest of your patients!" The bossman turned around and walked back down the hall singing 'oh what a beautiful morning'.
A few hours later John was at the front desk doing some paperwork when Jessica walked up to him, lower lip trembling. "John I have some terrible news!"
"Jessica!" John stood up, "What is it?!"
"Kathy is dead!"
"Blood smeared across the hallway wall, forming twisted hand prints at the beginnings and ends of the smears." Jessica read the sentence aloud, leaning on her husband as they lounged in the living room. "Wow this is really dark, why on earth did you buy it?"
John raised an eyebrow, looking at his wife, "Because it was free."
"You little cheapskate!" She giggled, shoving him.
"I am what I am, you married me anyway." He tilted up her chin for a kiss.
"John, I have a confession to make." She whispered.
"What?"
"I killed Kathy."
